Pros Easy to use, combine Tivo and DVD, no fees, good picture and sound
Cons Cannot remove commercials, expensive

We have seen a lot of things combined in the past few years. Cell phones and cameras, for instance. Or PDA's and cell phones. Cameras and video recorders. It is a wonder that it took so long for a company to capitalize on the combination of a DVD player/recorder and a Tivo- like machine.

Pros Picture quality in Fine and SP modes, DVD playback quality, TiVo convenience
Cons No DVD+RW, DVD+R or DVD-RAM recording, no editing, no FireWire, price
Recommended it? Yes

I have to immediately note that the Pioneer DVR-810H will not let you record your camcorder footage directly to DVD and it will not let you record from other sources directly to DVD either. Pros All that you pay for and a little more. Good feature set.
Cons S-L-O-W. No HDMI.
Recommended it? No

I have a rule when it comes to electronics. Buy the best. Before buying anything I read a lot, browse a lot, research everything and consider all of the major brands. So how come I've got a Protron PD-DVR100 sitting under my ridiculously overpriced TV? Well it's a long story.

Pros cheap, feature rich, decent playback and recording.
Cons questionable reliability, ugly interface, stolen design.

During my usual casual browsing of HHGregg's web site I saw this model on sale for $69.
