Pros Easy to use, combine Tivo and DVD, no fees, good picture and sound
Cons Cannot remove commercials, expensive
Recommended it? Yes

We have seen a lot of things combined in the past few years. Cell phones and cameras, for instance. Or PDA's and cell phones. Cameras and video recorders. It is a wonder that it took so long for a company to capitalize on the combination of a DVD player/recorder and a Tivo- like machine.

Pioneer DVR-810H DVD Recorder / Player with TiVo - If you can live with limitations

bydkozin Jul 15, 2004

Pros Picture quality in Fine and SP modes, DVD playback quality, TiVo convenience
Cons No DVD+RW, DVD+R or DVD-RAM recording, no editing, no FireWire, price
Recommended it? Yes

What you can do, however, is record from the hard drive, which can store programs (off the air or from other... Read full review »

Pros Price, features, performance, build quality, USB, up to 1080p over HDMI, DivX, MP3/WMA,...
Cons Some newer Philips players play DivX better, slightly slow startup
Recommended it? Yes

Not too long ago I discovered Pioneer DVD players. Not in a sense that I stumbled upon them while hiking up a mountain in my vicinity, but in a sense that I found out that they were really good. Previously, I mostly used Panasonic DVD players and, later, Philips.

Panasonic players were... Read full review »

Pros Easy to use. Great quality.

This Pioneer DVD-420V-K Player has been a great DVD player with great picture and sound.  I have owned it for about a year and have had no problems with this.  I purchased it after my previous DVD player fell apart after having it for only six months.  I looked around at the higher end electronic...
