Recommended it? Yes

I was interested in finding a digital camera that would offer excellent image quality combined with the ability to control the picture-taking process. I was looking for quality and value.

In the end, to cut through the process, I bought the Minolta S414. The aluminum body felt sturdy and... Read full review »

Pros Lots of options, low price, 4.0mp and 4x optical zoom
Cons Battery life, wastes batteries, clunky design
Recommended it? No

I bought my Dimage S414 on sale for $229. For the money, I figured a 4.0mp camera with a 4x optical zoom was a good deal.

Cons Zoom lens a little sticky. Memory card included is only 16MB
Recommended it? Yes

I have had this camera for about a week now, and I have tested it indoors and out, in a variety of lighting and shooting scenarios from sports to portraits. I never tried the Minolta 7 series models that the A1 replaces, so you will not see me drawing comparisons based on experience. Although I... Read full review »
