The New Powershot S50 Canon?s first five megapixel Digital Camera

139 Helpfuls 140 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Compact size, 5 megapixel resolution, ease of use, and lots of creative photography...
Cons No provision for add-on lenses or filters
Recommended it? Yes

Canon's new Powershot S50 is a stylish little digicam that updates Canon's recently introduced S45. The snazzy black (in the U.S.) S50 is aimed at serious amateur photographers who want a full slate of advanced features, lots of creative input, compact size, and five megapixel resolution. Canon's PowerShot S50: Slight Step above S45 but not Exactly Better!

byyusakugo May 17, 2003
68 Helpfuls 69 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros 5 MegaPixels, Compact design, Good number of features
Cons Only 3x Zoom lens, red-eye reduction issues, weak flash
Recommended it? Yes

Funny... I had been playing on and off with a friend's S50 for the better part of the past one to one and a half months. I had been rather impressed with it from my limited exposure. An interesting opportunity came up to buy the S50 for $400! An opportunity that if I passed on, I wouldn't be able... Read full review »

Nikon D5100 SLR digital camera 16 MP: A great SLR camera for the money

byyakkowarner Aug 29, 2011
61 Helpfuls 62 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Interchangeable lens, easy to use, lots of features, takes movies and photos, works ...
Cons Price, only 16 mega-pixels, no internal motor, only one control wheel instead of 2.
Recommended it? Yes

This is a 16 mega pixel SLR camera. You have the option to change lens, customize many setting, and you get higher quality pictures as an end product. It is also a faster camera than most point and shoot’s available. I do not have the lag between pressing the picture button and the camera... Read full review »

Best bang for the buck in APS-C DSLR cameras

Pros Best bang for the buck DSLR camera in its price/size bracket
Cons Flash lacks commander mode capability
Recommended it? Yes

My user experiences are marked in italics.

The Nikon D5100 is a DSLR camera ("digital single lens reflex" so what you see through the optical viewfinder or on the LCD screen is what you get in the photo; you are literally seeing through the lens, so there is no parallax error). I bought it... Read full review »
