Great value and alternative to HDTV

Pros Great factory picture setup, EDTV (1080i High-Scan), Awesome anamorphic 16:9 DVD picture.
Cons HEAVY, TV speakers don't do justice to the TV's awesome picture.
Recommended it? Yes
The Bottom Line:  Highest recommendation! Value is great and EDTV picture for DVD's is phenomenal.
PROS: If you are looking for a TV with a lot connections (5 video functions!), features, and picture quality, this one is for you. To start, the factory preset picture is great and requires very little color tuning (pushes a tad red on warm setting, but can be easily fixed). Second, I recommend turning off the Velocity Modulator when watching cable, the picture is a little edgy. However, it is a must when watching DVD's, hooked up to good component cables (I recommend Level 2 Monster cable). The picture is crystal clear, rich in color, and it displays an awesome anamorphic picture. Third, if you are a basic or even digital cable box user like I am, then the HDTV option is useless since very few stations even display high definition. The neat thing about this TV is that it can display EDTV, 1080i lines! Which is great for watching movies on a high-scan interlace DVD player. Tip: If you are patient and willing to search, this TV can be found well below cost (I paid 44% below retail!). Lastly, if you do have a problem with the TV, use the Sony warranty correctly. Search for an authorized Sony TV repair shop on the Sony website and they will fix it for free and quickly. I had to do this due to my cable tuner card inside the TV was not connected when the TV was delivered to me and it was fixed quickly (in my house) and for free.

CONS: This is one heavy TV! Have a couple friends ready to help you carry it. Also, the sound is OK. I highly recommend owning a home theater system when watching surround movies, the TV speakers don't do justice to the TV's awesome picture.
