LG LW8000ER IS AWESOME!
Pros
Great cooling and quiet.
Cons
Very poor and daunting installation instructions that could drive you insane.
Recommended it?
Yes
The Bottom Line:
I enthusiastically recommend this air conditioner because it is a phenomenally good cooler for my room and oh-oh-oh so quiet.
I have had many room air conditioners in my life, but this one has really impressed me. Yes, the installation is a bit difficult, but the other people you have heard from here are trying to install the air conditioner improperly. The instructions are abysmally bad. They have been translated from a Korean language and have lost much in the translation. I have a natural knack for mechanical things, so I had fewer problems. Just think outside of the box, so to speak. This is the most quiet and temperature-efficient air conditioner I have ever purchased. I had purchased three air conditioners before this one and I was anxious about purchasing another one. I did a lot of research and found that this one was the one I could afford on my budget while still getting a quality product. It cools down to 60 degrees, if you want. I'm a menopausally hot person and it makes me cold at that temperature! It's so quiet that I have been checking to see if the compressor is really running ((needless anxiety, indeed!)
The biggest problem I found in the installation instructions was the upper frame guide. The instructions don't tell you this, but you need to place the screws from the upper underside of the cabinet into the upper frame guide. Otherwise, you will end up whining about screws that don't fit, like some of these other people. I installed a piece of wooden 2-by-4 on the outside window sill and screwed the chassis to that for extra security and stability, since I don't have an inner "window stool", as the installation guide refers to.
Once you properly install this air conditioner, it will be one of the best you have ever owned. And...No... I don't work for LG. I'm just so impressed with my air conditioner that, as a hot-and-bothered menopausal woman, I wanted to share the joy of finally finding a good air conditioner that does everything I want it to do.
