CANON EOS 20D KIT: Would you like the combo?

bytheuerkorn Apr 25, 2005
45 Helpfuls 46 Helpfuls Was this review helpful?
Pros Excellent camera, good starter lens, rich in features, good overall quality
Cons Mediocre lens which stifles some of the 20D functionality and quality
Recommended it? Yes

Kits are often a great opportunity to snatch typically more expensive individual components and bundle them into a discounted package. The same is true for the EOS 20D which can be had with or without the lens. Does it make sense to get the kit or simply skip to the body only and get a better lens?... Read full review »

I've just upgraded to the Canon EOS 20D, my first SLR of any kind. I'm a long-time user of Canon and Nikon digital point-and-shoot cameras -- Canon G3 and S30, Nikon 5700 and CoolPix 950. I was trying to choose between a bunch of different models for an upgrade to the G3, and was leaning towards... Read full review »

A real camera

Pros Fast, fast, fast. Excellent image quality. Easy to use controls. SLR.
Cons Poor indoor white balance. Heft & bulk might be a negative to some.

Once we got our Toshiba PDR-M700 digital point-and-shoot camera, most of our snapshots were taken on that. Digital photography is just too convenient to ignore. But I always missed the control I had with our older 35mm Canon Rebel. While the Toshiba takes fine pictures in most situations, it always... Read full review »

WOW! What a camera

bysuemccartin Aug 16, 2005

Pros FAAAAAAAAAAAAST camera, large buffers, 5 fps, exposure control!, 3 shutter modes
Cons Expensive, Canon tries to limit third-party products, no preview mode, no stitch mode
Recommended it? Yes

I've been into film photography for years, what always irritated me the most was waiting for the film to come back. When the first digitals came out they were expensive and really primitive. My first 3 megapixel epson 650 digital was one heckuva camera and cost me over two hundred dollars about 6... Read full review »

Cons occasional freeze up on the auto focus

I've been debating over the Nikon D70 and Canon 20D. But from all the reviews I've read, I decided to go with the 20D. I've had this camera for a few months now and this thing blows me away.

What I liked the most about this camera is the CMOS censor. Man, at 1600 ISO, i took night shots... Read full review »

First 2 20d's were defective, 3rd time is a charm.

Pros Fast! Solid feel. Wide variety of available lenses.
Cons Quality control is TERRIBLE. Small dim color LCD display. Heavy.

I recently purchased a Canon 20d kit with the 18-55 mm EF-S lens. I took roughly 200 pictures at my daughters dance recital and other test photos. Not one was as good as my 3.2 MP Fuji FinePix 3800. I tried indoor, indoor with flash, outdoor in bright sun. Nothing was any good. They were all blurry... Read full review »

Ah ... the Canon 20D

Pros Amazing control over your shots, nice weight, easy to use.
Cons If anything, the lens. But it's actually not that bad.
Recommended it? Yes

My review is not based on the technical aspects of the camera, as there are plenty of those posts already. This is simply from my perspective using the camera.

The Canon 20D.

I have always wanted an SLR camera. Specifically a digital SLR. I really wanted the 30D, simply because a... Read full review »

I was looking for a DSLR in this price range and nikon only has the d70s (iso only goes to 200 and polycarbonate body) and the new d200, which costs more than I want to spend for a digital camera since most of my investment is in film cameras.

I'm writing this review because I noticed... Read full review »

I have owned 10 different digital cameras over the years and this one is by far the best. My last camera before going SLR was a Nikon Coolpix 5000 which I thought was an awesome 5.1 mega pixel camera. When I went to the camera store to try out some SLR's to replace it the first thing I went for was... Read full review »
